Listen to learn more

—

As well as researching and writing about the ins and outs of community radio broadcasting, I have produced, presented and been interviewed on academic podcasts.

For background to my first book, ‘Digital Innovations and the Production of Local Content in Community Radio’ you can listen to my interview with by Dr Sophie Hope here on the ‘miaaw’ podcast series (audio essays, conversations and discussions about cultural democracy, community-based art, and the commons).

Also here on Andrew Ó Baoill’s ‘A Critical Ear’ podcast for Flirt Radio, created as part of his PhD practice research.

My book can be purchased on Amazon and via other booksellers.

● About Me

I’m Jo. I’ve been actively involved in local and community radio since the mid-1980s, from promotions and public relations, to presenting, journalism and podcast production. I started researching the field in 2015. I had my first academic chapter published in 2020, the same year I completed my PhD about the socio-cultural aspects of creating local content for community radio.
